Northern mointainous Dien Bien province's authorities granted investment approval decisions to 20 investors, representing nearly VND7.5 trillion ($285 million) in total investment, at the 2026 International Investment Promotion Conference between Dien Bien and its neighbors -  Luang Prabang (Laos) and Yunnan (China), on October 19.

The event also witnessed the signing of six investment cooperation memoranda of understanding covering investment commitments worth more than VND12 trillion ($456 million).

Addressing the conference, Mr. Tran Tien Dung, Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, said the event was expected to create practical cooperation opportunities, strengthen business connections, broaden markets and attract effective investment projects.

He called on investors to focus on three priority areas: transport connectivity, border-gate economic activities and processing industries; high-value agriculture and forestry; and tourism and high-quality services.

For transport infrastructure and border trade, the province is seeking investment in logistics, warehousing, distribution, import-export support services, industrial infrastructure and agricultural and forestry processing. Priority will be given to projects linked to local raw-material supply chains, capable of expanding markets and increasing the value of regional products.
