Central Da Nang city held a conference on October 22 entitled “Promoting E-commerce and Digital Payments – A Driver of the City’s Economic Growth in 2026”, as part of efforts to accelerate economic growth and strengthen its digital economy.

According to the Vietnam E-commerce Association’s 2025 Vietnam E-commerce Index report, Da Nang ranked third nationwide with 28.1 points, behind Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The result highlighted the city’s progress while underscoring the need to improve digital adoption and encourage more businesses to participate in online markets.

Mr. Huynh Xuan Son, deputy director of Da Nang’s Department of Industry and Trade, said the city’s position as a central Vietnam hub for tourism, trade and services offered favourable conditions for developing an e-commerce ecosystem linked to tourism, the night-time economy, logistics and digital payments.

He said supporting businesses, cooperatives and household enterprises in adopting digital platforms and convenient payment methods would help expand their customer base and improve operational efficiency.

The city has begun bringing local OCOP-certified products and regional specialties onto digital platforms. It is also promoting cashless transactions, QR-code payments and product traceability to help merchants manage transactions and adapt to modern business practices.

Da Nang aims for the digital economy to contribute 27% of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and for the city to achieve double-digit GRDP growth in 2026.
